The Hazel Scarf is the third design in the Before Fall Collection — a series of cosy, nature-inspired pieces worked in Nutiden, the lanolin-rich unspun wool from Höner och Eir's Lammas collection. It is also the companion accessory to the Season's End Shawl, sharing the same rustic, beginner-friendly spirit of the collection while being a quicker, more compact project.

The scarf features a slip-stitch rib pattern with I-cord edging, creating a satisfying textural rhythm that is easy to memorise and well suited to on-the-go knitting. The stitch pattern and construction are approachable for newcomers, yet engaging enough that experienced knitters will find it a pleasantly meditative cast-on. It knits up in worsted weight and works equally well as a stash-busting project for leftover Nutiden or as an introduction to working with unspun yarn for the first time.

The pattern includes thorough instructions and guidance on customising the size — adjusting the number or frequency of decreases allows you to tailor the finished length and width to your preference. The Hazel Scarf also makes a thoughtful, handmade gift, with its timeless stitch pattern suited to any wardrobe.
