Helios Sweater

The Helios Sweater is a top-down modified drop-shoulder knitting pattern worked in reverse stockinette, with a relaxed, structured silhouette and a bold cable panel running the full length of both the front and back. Written for DK weight yarn, the pattern includes subtle shoulder shaping as well as armhole shaping for larger sizes, ensuring a consistent and well-fitted result across the full size range.

The cable stitch pattern adds architectural dimension to what would otherwise be a clean, minimalist pullover – and is designed to be worked without a cable needle, making it more approachable than it might appear at first glance. The cable chart varies slightly between sizes to maintain even design placement at all measurements.

Suited to intermediate knitters comfortable with reverse stockinette and basic cable techniques.

Please choose a size 16-26 cm larger than your actual chest circumference. The sample in the photos is size 2 with 23 cm positive ease.

You can choose from 9 unisex sizes, with finished chest circumferences of:

98, 107, 117 (128, 137, 148) (157, 167, 178) cm

Recommended Yarn

Wooldreamers - Mota (100% Local Wool, 100 g=230 m) - colourway ‘463’:

Meters: 755, 895, 955 (1040, 1155, 1220) (1405, 1500, 1650)

Grams: 330, 390, 415 (450, 500, 530) (610, 650, 715)

Balls: 4, 4, 5 (5, 5, 6) (7, 7, 8)

Yarn Substitutes

Suitable yarns include any heavy DK to Worsted weight yarn that meets the gauge, such as Wooldreamers La Rinconada, or alternatively, a light unspun yarn held double, such as Wooldreamers Manchelopis (held double to achieve the equivalent of a heavy DK weight yarn).

3.5 mm and 4.5 mm 60-120 cm circular needles and/or DPNs.

Optional: A cable needle size 4.5mm (You do not need a cable needle to work these cables, but you can choose to use one if you prefer.)

Stitch markers, stitch holders, a tapestry needle for weaving in ends, measuring tape, scissors.

This pattern is size inclusive.
