Wolf Winter is a round-yoke sweater knitting pattern worked top-down, featuring minimalist stranded colourwork rooted in traditional Nordic design. The pattern's defining detail is the use of slipped stitches within the colourwork section, which adds visual texture, makes the pattern stand out against its ground, and introduces a particular pleasure to the knitting that keeps each round engaging. Designed for worsted-weight unspun yarn — specifically Nutiden from Höner och Eir — the sweater is constructed seamlessly in the round with no finishing seams required.

The name Wolf Winter derives from the Swedish 'Vargavinter', describing the most brutal and prolonged winters in Scandinavian folklore — a season harsh enough to test both wolves and humans alike. The design was conceived with Höner och Eir's Total Mörker colourway in mind: a near-black unspun wool with blue undertones and pale grey flecks, evoking moonlight on snow and the silence of a frozen landscape. The result is a wearable piece of Nordic storytelling, and a confident intermediate knitting pattern for those drawn to both colourwork and unspun Swedish wool.

Please choose a size 6-12 cm/ 2.25-4.75 in larger than your actual chest circumference.
For best results, please refer to the table and schematic (pages 6 and 7 in the pattern or pattern preview) to review the measurements at other body points.

With greater discrepancies in upper chest and full chest measurements, I recommend going with the upper chest measurement. The sample in the photos is in size 2 with 10 cm/ 4 in positive ease.
