Fjelltur Lite

Fjelltur Lite is the lighter, more minimalist interpretation of the Fjelltur Sweater — its name taken from the Norwegian for mountain tour. Where the original is a fuller, more substantial garment, this version strips the design back to its essential elements: a classic colourwork yoke sweater in aran weight yarn, carrying the same stylised mountain peaks and spruce trees that define the Fjelltur aesthetic.

The construction follows a bottom-up approach, with sleeves and body worked separately before being joined at the underarm and shaped through the yoke with raglan decreases. Neck and shoulder shaping are worked with German short rows for a well-fitted, comfortable result. The simple ribbing at the hem, cuffs, and neck is finished with a sewn bind-off for a clean, professional edge.

This pattern is suited to knitters with some experience in stranded two-colour colourwork and seamless sweater construction. The geometric colourwork motifs are presented in clear charts and are straightforward to follow once the repeat is established, making Fjelltur Lite a rewarding project for anyone who enjoys Nordic-inspired knitwear with a considered, contemporary sensibility.
