Bjørk Raglan

Bjørk is a top-down raglan sweater, knitted in the round with a striped texture created entirely through knit and slip stitches. The name – Norwegian for birch, shared with the Swedish and Icelandic Björk – speaks directly to the design's visual inspiration: the pale, patterned bark of the birch tree translated into a quiet, graphic knitwear motif.

The slip-stitch stripe construction allows two colours to interact without requiring both yarns to be carried simultaneously, making this a highly approachable introduction to colourwork-style patterning at a worsted weight. The resulting fabric is warm, structured, and texturally rich, with a rhythm that becomes easy to memorise once established. It works well in unspun yarn for a soft, airy drape, or in a worsted-weight wool for more definition.

Bjørk suits knitters familiar with raglan shaping who want to expand into textured two-colour techniques.

For an oversized fit, choose a size 15-25 cm larger than your actual chest circumference, for a relaxed fit - 10-15 cm larger. For reference: the sample in the photo is in size 3 with 25 cm positive ease.
