Nutiden in Dark Grey is an unspun Swedish wool from Höner och Eir — a small, independent mill known for its lanolin-rich, minimally processed approach to fibre production. Made from 100% Swedish wool, gently washed and free from bleach, spin oil, and chemical treatment, this unspun yarn has the naturally soft, earthy character of the full Nutiden range, with an exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio. Each 100 g plate holds approximately 530 m / 580 yds, with plates individually weighed and exact grams noted per variant.
These plates are available from a designer's studio destash, sold individually or in sweater quantities of 490 g or more. Dark grey is one of the most adaptable tones in the Nutiden palette — a strong ground for stranded colourwork in designs from the beginner-level Barren Land Sweater to the full-colourwork Heritage Sweater, and equally compelling as a sole colour in textured cable knits such as the Oakwood Raglan or Before Fall Sweater. Held double for the Chloe Sweater or Wayfarer Raglan, the heathered depth of this shade produces a quietly sophisticated fabric.
Nutiden unspun wool requires gentle hand-washing; a small amount of vinegar in the first rinse helps set the fibres. Natural colourways may contain trace plant matter, and pigmented shades may release a little colour in the first wash — both are normal for minimally processed, lanolin-rich unspun wool.
