Álafosslopi is a bulky weight yarn from Ístex, perfect for outdoor wear thanks to the natural weather-resistant properties of Icelandic sheep’s wool. Recommended needle size is 5.5–6.5 mm, and 100 g equals roughly 100 meters.

A full, new skein of Álafoss typically weighs between 99 g and 112 g, as I’ve recently discovered—so all skeins weighing 99 g or more are classified as full skeins.

All skeins listed in this category are unused, but I can’t classify them as “new with label.” Some still have their labels—though they may be torn, possibly from a different dye lot, or attached to skeins with unusually low weight that may still be new.

For example:
Shade 0058 – Dark Grey – Lot 1212 is labeled and matches the new skeins from the same lot, but one of them weighs slightly under 100 g (91 g), despite appearing new and unused.

There are also many skeins over 100 g that are either new or like new. I likely unpacked them at some point but never got around to using them. Some have been lightly swatched with, others more extensively—but they remain intact (not curled, rewound, or balled), just slightly irregular in weight or missing their labels.

They’re perfect for colourwork and stash-busting projects where exact matching dye lots aren’t essential. Or maybe you’re just looking for a bit less than 100 g to finish a sweater.
